So are you saying in theory(while not recommended) with my 5. Lastly, you made a comment regarding Rockbox.

IFLASH QUAD FULL

So in theory(depending on song file size of course) if I have no data like album art etc attached to any of my music and its just raw files for playback, I could fit over 20,000 songs, correct? As long as I am meeting and hitting under that 32mb ram cache or whatever?Īlso in a different scenario if I wanted to use my ipod doubled as a storage device, say I dropped in 512gb sd card, had 15k songs, would I be able to use the remaining storage space for actual files on the drive like movies, actual song files(not loaded in itunes) or even perhaps a full backup of the actual music files? I too would also like to clarify a couple things. I'll probably take out 256gb and see if that does help because I am not quite sure if was to much storage to read properly or to many songs. What is your experience? Where are the limitations? I obviously wanted to much and he was overwhelmed with 20'000+ songs. Now I put a few songs on him and it worked. SO I reseted, and he got stuck on the reset for several hours until I gave up and went into DFU and restored. When I tried to play a song he got stuck and wasn't responding. It worked and I unplugged him in the evening. No biggie happened before with OG ones so I just have to wait a bit longer. During the night something went wrong and about 9'000 songs didn't sync. I synced all my 23'232 songs and went to bed with high hopes for the morning to enjoy my library on the go. The interface is the same as the one required by the iRiver H320. Any one of their offerings should work though (the SD version, the CF version, etc, etc.) I ordered the iFlash adaptor for using the iFlash with 4th Gen iPods. Plugged the bad boy in and was amazed that it worked and iTunes took it like it was nothing. I ordered the iFlash Quad MicroSD adaptor for iPods.

This all worked quite fine and the installation (after ruining a headphone jack ribbon) went well. i Flash Quad with: 2x256gb and 1x128gb (iTunes gives me a 589.62gb capacity).Back plate from a 30gb 5th gen in ok-ish condition.Clickwheel from a good condition 6h (the middle button from my og).The Front Panel is from my one true iPod I had for 11 years (it certainly shows, grey and worn down but I love him this way).So I did and I call him "Frankensteins Monster the iPod" because: I had for about 11 years finally broke down so I had the idea of getting a 5th gen and put a iFlash quad in it for maximum storage. I used to have several different iPods and other music players over the years but I seem to get drawn back to the classic every time.

IFLASH QUAD WINDOWS

Oh, also windows device-manager or disk-manager can sometimes 'see' a more complete disk capacity than explorer does.To skip to my actual point without the story only read the BOLD part on the bottom Wouldn't surprise me if there were a limit with the Tarkan adaptor.

IFLASH QUAD DRIVER

Would be sort-of-usable, except you'd be stuck syncing with rockbox, with all the disk error problems that involves, so until they fix rockbox's ata driver that wouldn't be a real solution.

IFLASH QUAD INSTALL

I was wondering if there was any upper limit due to the hardware (as I've reached about 1.5Tb myself).ĭoes it show the full capacity if you don't restore the ipod the normal iTunes way but just format it from within windows? That's not a usable solution, obviously, though if it worked to that extent, you might be able to install rockbox (perhaps using the old emcore method?), which might give a clue as to what might be going on. That's very interesting to know (crikey, four 1Tb cards must cost a humungous amount! I suspect you are the first to try this). You might be better off going for one of Tarkan's made-for-ipod iFlash adapters

If 1 and 2 check out ok then there's a fault or compatibility problem with the adapters.

Test both with and without the SD-CF adapter.ģ. Double-check capacity of SD card in a card reader. I've seen that with original drives and bad ribbon cables.ġ. The fact you get gibberish in the ipod's diagnostics page points to some sort of communication problem. Those cheap CF-ZIF adapters can be tricky to get the ribbon cable attached properly - the cable can go too far in and miss the contacts. Item Description: This auction includes 1x iFlash Quad Micro-SD Adapter which will allow you to convert your iPod Video (5th/5.5 gen) and iPod Classic. For info, I have a Qumox microSD to CF adapter but it does not work in an ipod but works ok in a card reader. I have a several CF-SD adapters that look similar to yours (Googling the description) and have used them ok with SDXC cards. I suspect it's either the CF-SD adapter or the CF-ZIF adapter (or both!).
